Captain America is once again one of those famous and popular comic book heroes that have come into the world to do marvellous deeds of good and protecting the world from really bad people. The really surprising fact is that over 210 million copies have been sold – and no doubt translated – into 75 different languages and countries.
Captain America was actually the alter ego of a poor sickly young man called Steve Rogers who was given a special serum that made him capable of tremendous strength and bravery. He was actually given the serum as an experiment to help create a superior being to help the United States war effort. Captain America, as he name suggests, is very, very patriotic and indeed his costume boasts a huge American flag on the front and he is suitably armed with a protective shield that is totally indestructable and that our hero uses as a weapon that can be thrown against the enemy.
Captain America has no superhuman powers, although as a result of the Super-Soldier Serum and Captain America is given the “Vita-Ray” treatment and he is then totally transformed from a frail y man into the most “perfect” specimen of a human being through development and ultimate conditioning. Captain America is renowned for his strength, endurance, agility and speed. Roger’s body regularly gets more of the super-soldier serum and luckily it does not appear to wear off.
This particular serum formula greatly increases all of his bodily functions and abilities and provides him with lasting powers that seem to go on forever and much more powerful than ordinary people. He is able to do bench-presses with 500 kgs. He cannot get drunk with alcohol or drugs and he never ever gets ill.
Captain America thinks like a soldier and he can work out the best tactics to employ to beat the enemy and he willing gives orders to others on the battlefield. He is an expert too in all kinds of martial arts such as judo, kick-boxing and gymnastics and has developed his own unique style of fighting. Together with his indestructible shield he is a mean enemy and usually wins the battle. He is able to throw his shield and take out more than one contender at the same time and with only throw it will knock down a whole team of fighters and just like the returning boomerang it actually returns to him to be used once again immediately.
Captain America’s uniform is made of fire-resistant material which is both lightweight and bulletproof and he wears a partial mask to help keep his identity a secret. Red, white and blue are the colors of the flag and so of the costume, with a winky little hat with wings. A newer version is also now available to dress for your birthday party or fancy dress event which is similar but with a modern new-style t-shirt effect.
