Thor is very different to most superheroes. He isn’t actually a superhero, but he is in fact a Norse God – the God of Thunder. His father is Odin the Norse god of War, Wisdom, Magic, Prophecy & Poetry- and is the ruler of Asgard. As with most superheroes he has a double identity. In this case his non superhero persona is Donald Blake, a doctor of medicine.
Contrary to myth, Thor and the other Asgardians are NOT immortal. They need to eat Golden Apples periodically to remain strong and healthy and to extend their lifespans. Thor is the strongest Asgardians due to his parentage (father Odin, mother the goddess Gaea). In battle, if pushed to the limit, he can temporarily increase his strength and durability by something called Warriors Madness.The only downside to this is that he has no control and will attack both friends and enemies. He possess keen senses; he can hear people in trouble at the other side of the planet (superman anyone?); he can also track objects travelling really fast. He can also throw his voice (ventriloquism). Something Thor can do that most other superheroes cannot is that he can travel through time. If needed he can also regenerate body parts damaged in battle – for this he would use a force. He does have super human speed, is very agile and super fast reflexes, which means he can use his hammer to deflect bullets. As with all Asgardians Thor cannot be injured by earthly diseases and has some ability to resist magic attacks on him.
As the Norse God of Thunder, he can call lightning, wind, rain, snow and use his hammer to control the natural weather to create storms, etc. He has no control over artificial weather created by humans and their machines. He can destroy buildings using the weather and is able to make a storm or other weather happen anywhere on the planet.
He is very skilled in hand to hand combat and fantastic with armed combat. His weapons include his war hammer, a mace and a sword, all of which he can use without much effort. To aide him in battles he also possesses two special items, these being his belt of strength , which doubles his strength and endurance and the magical hammer with which he controls the weather, dimension travel, matter manipulation and the most useful of the offensives the God blast (this taps into Thor’s own life force). He can also fly at supersonic speed in the atmosphere and faster than light speed in space. Thor also has a chariot to be used when he needs to move large items or people from one place to another and this is pulled by mystical goats.
